This 44-year old Ford Capri 3.0 Ghia was semi-unique in that it was commissioned with ‘Ford factory fitted’ Air-Conditioning (not a Ford UK option in those days!)
Having spent a good 20 years of its life unused and under a cover in a barn and with the obtained DVLA documentation the 70000-ish mileage appears to be correct.
A pinhead hole in the head gasket warranted a complete engine rebuild and auto-box refurbish which was completed by specialists in spring 2015.
Being a short-journeyed, out in all weathers, daily driver between 2003 & 2014 the now-banned R12 air-conditioning fluid had perished the seals and corroded metalwork so it all needed some attention.
The extensive damage justified the air-con removal and a skilled and detailed ‘on-the-side’ refurbishment by coachwork specialists over the winter 2015-16. Safety, security and comfort have also been uprated.
